Watching the game yesterday and having had time to think about it, was it as bad as some fans were saying? It was certainly a cup half full or half empty kind of game.
Positives:
- We battered Swansea and they created nothing.
- A clean sheet
- We didn’t do “A Saints” and lose 1-0 in the 88th minute
- We created chances.
- Wood and Scienza
Negatives:
- We drew with Swansea
- We got a clean sheet as they were useless.
- We didn’t do “A Saints” and score the winner in stoppage time.
- We couldn’t score from 1 yard.
- 5 at the back against a side who didn’t really want to venture past the centre circle.
Yes it was better. For the 15 minutes before half time we looked like a class outfit, going for the jugular and throwing fast passes forward, crossing the ball and threatening constantly. For the other 75 it was slow, lots of moving the ball around a bit and surprise, surprise, we don’t have a striker (or player) who can actually score. At least I got to yelp and do the “OMG we scored” thing when Janelt somehow hit the post and Archer managed to leather the ball over to Eastleigh when the scuff would have gone in. Granted those moments and more saw me ebb down to my seat and hold my head in my hands but at least it got me excited.
So it is either coming together or it is the same old story. The empty seats spoke volumes of the boredom and disillusionment of Saint’s fans. The atmosphere is up and down and the main course of debate is whether Sports Republic have somehow ripped the life out of the club. Spoiler – Most think (including me) they have.
I know we have won a game at St Mary’s but they are so rare that a couple of hens walked past having just been to the dentist and the bears were coming out the woods to use the toilets in the concourse. I am clinging to the “It is getting better” thing. We seriously need to win at Bristol City or else this “getting better” thing is done and something has to change.

Only watched on TV. Which ” never gives full flavour. But why do Saints pass to goalie when there is a clear passage of play in the opposition end?
