Sprinkles restaruant on the high street is set to be replaced by Turkish restaurant Rosemary Cafe banners have announced, bringing its distinctive flavours to Southampton’s High Street.
Rosemary, which has earned a strong following at its original Wimborne location, will open its second branch in Southampton, marking a significant expansion for the family-run establishment. The new restaurant will be situated on the same stretch as the award-winning Ottoman Kitchen, adding to the Bargate area’s growing reputation as the culinary hotspot in southampton.
The move comes after Sprinkles Gelato recently closed its High Street branch, with its windows being papered over in recent weeks. The dessert chain had been a familiar fixture in Southampton’s city centre for several years.
The original Rosemary restaurant, which operates from Purbeck House, West Borough in Wimborne, has built its reputation on elegant Turkish cuisine and a warm dining atmosphere. Known for its fresh seafood, carefully prepared mezes, and traditional Turkish dishes, the restaurant has become a favourite among Dorset diners since its opening.
“Southampton’s diverse dining scene and vibrant city centre made it the perfect choice for our expansion,” said a spokesperson for Rosemary. “We’re excited to bring our authentic Turkish cuisine to a new audience and contribute to the city’s rich culinary landscape.”
The new restaurant will join an already thriving food scene on Southampton’s High Street, positioning itself near Ottoman Kitchen, which has recently been named the Best Middle Eastern Restaurant in the UK.
Renovation work is currently underway at the former Sprinkles site, with an opening date to be announced in the coming weeks. The new establishment is expected to create several local jobs and will offer both lunch and dinner service.
For Southampton residents, this new addition promises to bring another option for authentic Turkish dining to the city centre, further cementing the area’s reputation as a destination for food enthusiasts.
