For more than half a century, the Southampton International Boat Show has been a fixture on the UK’s maritime calendar. Now, as it sails into its 56th year, the show is getting a bold makeover for 2025 — and the organisers are promising an event that’s bigger, livelier, and more hands-on than ever before.
The first thing regulars will notice is the new entrance, now relocated to the heart of Mayflower Park. It’s part of a complete reimagining of the show’s layout, making it easier to explore the many new features and expanded roster of on- and off-water experiences.
For those keen to sharpen their skills, the Boating Academy returns with a packed schedule of expert-led talks and live demonstrations. Whether you’re a newcomer or an old hand, the sessions promise practical tips, techniques, and plenty of inspiration. Expect to hear from world record holders, industry veterans, and legendary sailors, each sharing stories and advice to help you get the most out of every moment on the water.
A new highlight for 2025 is The Cockpit stage — the brainchild of Powerboat & RIB Magazine — which puts the spotlight firmly on performance boating. Here, speed, innovation, and marine engineering take centre stage with exclusive talks and insider insights from leaders in the field. Fans of powerboats will want to drop by the Yamaha and British Powerboat Racing Club stands, where the latter’s Falcon Multispark powerboat will be on display.
Boatbuilding enthusiasts are in for a treat with the debut of the Wooden Boat Stage, located in the new Explore Boating area by the show’s main entrance. This stage is a collaboration between the Wooden Boatbuilders’ Trade Association, the Boat Building Academy, and Women in Boatbuilding — three groups at the forefront of keeping traditional maritime skills alive and accessible.
Expect live demonstrations of everything from carving and steam bending to oar making and rigging, showcasing both time-honoured craftsmanship and the latest techniques. The stage will also host a lively programme of panel discussions, author talks, short films, live music, and hands-on workshops.
It wouldn’t be a proper British boat show without good food, and Chefs Ahoy — led by The Rustic Chef Martin Dawkins — delivers just that. Featuring three daily sessions, Dawkins and the Dishy Dads serve up boat-friendly recipes using seasonal, local ingredients. Meet South Coast producers of chocolate, gin, sauces, and more, all created using natural ingredients and traditional methods.
With its refreshed layout, new stages, and a full line-up of activities, the 2025 Southampton International Boat Show is set to offer something for every kind of boating enthusiast. Whether you come for the expert advice, the live demos, or just the chance to soak up the atmosphere, this year’s show promises to be a highlight on the summer calendar.
