Hampshire police have launched an appeal for information following a sophisticated fraud incident at a local supermarket where items worth nearly £30 were purchased for less than £2.
The incident took place at the Co-op on Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford, between 1:45 PM and 1:55 PM on Wednesday, December 18. According to police reports, the suspect manipulated barcodes to significantly reduce the price of five items, paying just £1.65 for goods valued at £28.58.
Investigators have released CCTV images of a man they believe could assist with their enquiries. Police are urging the individual, or anyone who can identify him, to come forward.
Officers are also appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or noticed suspicious activity in the area during this time. Of particular interest is any footage from CCTV systems, mobile phones, dash cams, or doorbell cameras that could aid the investigation.
