A man has been charged with murder after the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old in Belmont Road late Wednesday night in Portswood.
Police responded to reports of an altercation around 11:30pm on December 3. When officers arrived, they found Henry Nowak, 18, suffering from a puncture wound to his chest and two additional wounds to his leg. Despite efforts from emergency responders, Nowak was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation by the Major Crime Team, detectives have charged Vickrum Digwa, 22, of St Denys Road, Southampton, with murder. Digwa, who is British and of Asian ethnicity, faces an additional charge of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Police have also charged Kiran Kaur, 52, of St Denys Road, Southampton, in connection with the incident. Kaur, who is Indian and of Asian ethnicity, has been charged with assisting an offender.
Both Digwa and Kaur are due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday, December 8.
A 51-year-old man, previously arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail as inquiries continue. Separately, a 26-year-old man who was initially arrested on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action for that offence. He was further arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a public order offence, and released on police bail pending ongoing investigation.
Police have appealed for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
