In a significant development at the historic Royal Pier in Southampton, the well-known Kutis restaurant, which recently faced liquidation, has announced a rebranding under new ownership just in time for the festive season. The restaurant, now under the stewardship of Imran Talukder, is set to relaunch as “DE • JA • VU,” promising a novel dining experience while preserving cherished traditions.
In an email to patrons and on the Kutis social media platforms, Imran Talukder expressed his enthusiasm for the transformation, stating, “We are thrilled to share some exciting news: The Royal Pier Restaurant is now transforming into something truly special. Welcome to DE • JA • VU. Inspired by the French concept of ‘déjà vu,’ meaning the feeling of experiencing something familiar yet new. DE • JA • VU invites you to reminisce the good times whilst creating new memories.”
The transition aims to blend the rich heritage of the Grade II listed Royal Pier with a contemporary approach to dining. The restaurant will remain open during its usual hours, from 5 PM to 11 PM daily, continuing to serve its current menu until the official launch of DE • JA • VU in November. Talukder invites customers to share their thoughts and partake in this exciting new chapter.
A Familiar Cycle
This announcement marks the second instance in two years where an entity operating as Kuti’s Brasserie has undergone voluntary liquidation, followed by a rebranding. Previously known as Kuti’s Brasserie and later Kuti’s, the restaurant has undergone another transformation to become DE • JA • VU. The Royal Pier was formerly managed by Joytun Bari Limited and more recently by KZCA Limited.
The new proprietors, who also manage Imran Brothers Foods, a Poole-based wholesale food supplier, are listed among the creditors on the liquidation statement of KZCA Ltd, which has ceased operations. Other local businesses, including M & B Carpet Care, BOC Limited, and the International Food & Halal Meat Centre Limited, as well as Southampton City Council, are also named as creditors.
As the Royal Pier looks forward to this promising new era, the community eagerly anticipates the unveiling of DE • JA • VU and the continuation of the legacy of fine dining at this iconic location.
