Krystian Szymanski, a 40-year-old resident of Northumberland Road, Southampton, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison following a spate of burglaries in the city earlier this year. The sentencing took place at Southampton Crown Court last week, where Szymanski had earlier pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary and two counts of attempted burglary.
The charges were brought against Szymanski after a series of break-ins and attempted break-ins occurred between June 9th and August 26th on various streets, including Arthur Road, Firgrove Road, Amoy Street, Park Road, Hyde Close, Devonshire Road, Bullar Road, and Thorold Road. The stolen items ranged from a garden strimmer and a mountain bike to a purse, two wallets, a laptop, jewelry, tools valued at approximately £3,000, and several hundred pounds in cash.
Following a thorough investigation led by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s Western Area Crime Team, Szymanski was apprehended and charged. He initially appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on September 3rd, where he confessed to all charges.
Detective Inspector Jamie Johnson, who spearheaded the investigation, commented on the case, stating, “Burglary has a huge effect on those who are targeted, and in carrying out this series of offences, Szymanski has demonstrated a clear disregard for the impact on his victims. Police work hard to tackle repeat offenders and ensure we disrupt the harm they cause to local residents and businesses.”
Szymanski’s sentencing on October 16th marks a significant step in addressing local crime, with Detective Inspector Johnson adding, “Szymanski will now suffer the consequences of his actions, and I hope that the local community can feel reassured that he is now behind bars.”
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to combat criminal activities and protect the residents of Southampton, reinforcing the community’s trust in the justice system.
