Officers from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted kidnap incident in Lyndhurst, New Forest. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 9, when a woman was approached and grabbed by an unknown man near Cuffnells Farm on Bournemouth Road.
The alarming event took place between 11:25 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Fortunately, the woman, who was walking her dogs at the time, managed to fend off her attacker and return safely to her vehicle.
The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, of average build, and in his 40s. He has really short, dark hair and a black goatee beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark suit or blazer-style jacket, dark jeans, and smart black shoes.
Investigators are eager to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of the incident between 10:30 a.m. and midday and may have seen a man matching this description. Additionally, they are appealing to those who might recognize the suspect’s description or have any footage, such as mobile phone video, dash cam, doorbell camera, or CCTV, that could aid in the investigation.
Detective Inspector Tim Sivarajah has assured the community that the victim and her family are receiving full support from the authorities. He acknowledged the understandable concern within the community but emphasized the police’s commitment to resolving the case swiftly.
“Our enquiries continue, and we will keep the community updated on any developments,” said DI Sivarajah. “In the meantime, local officers will be conducting enquiries and reassurance patrols in the area. Please approach them if you have any information, concerns, or questions.”
