Police have charged a 20-year-old man in connection with a robbery that took place last Thursday, October 31st, in Southampton. The incident unfolded at Coleman’s Confectioners on Commercial Road between 10 PM and 11 PM, where the suspect allegedly attempted to steal cigarettes and cash while threatening staff with an imitation firearm.
During the incident, the suspect managed to take cigarettes, but a quick-thinking staff member intervened, preventing him from leaving the store with the stolen goods. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the confrontation.
The suspect, identified as Baheej Issa of Shakespeare Avenue, has been formally charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit a Schedule 1 offence. Following his arrest, Issa has been remanded into custody.
Baheej Issa is set to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court to face the charges. The court hearing will determine the next steps in the judicial process for this case.
