A man has been charged after police responded to a suspicious incident in Southampton in the early hours of Monday.
Officers were called shortly after 2am on 29 September to Ordnance Road following reports of a woman screaming in a nearby car park. Police attended the scene to investigate concerns for welfare.
Detectives have since identified everyone involved. A 45-year-old woman was found to have been assaulted during the incident, though police confirmed her injuries were not serious.
Carlos Diamantino, 51, of Quayside Road, Southampton, has now been charged with assault by beating.
He was remanded in custody and appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today. Mr Diamantino was later bailed and is due to appear in court again on 27 October.
