The far left Labour city council are to consider spending and wasting council taxpayers money on a vanity project, the City of Culture award.
At a time when the government policies are driving the economy downwards towards recession and the country is being told to tighten its belt, Southampton cannot afford such extravagant expenditure. We can be sure that a majority of residents are against this.
Lets not forget that the government has awarded the city, taxpayers money (probably borrowed on the money markets) under the guise of ‘pride in place’. That’s probably to make up for the lack of expenditure on maintenance, care and cleanliness that is sadly lacking in many areas of the city, which has happened under Labour’s watch.
The neglect has generated apathy, and disillusionment among many voters, because the price of socialism in Southampton, is unacceptable.
