Hampshire Police are urgently appealing for key witnesses in connection with a serious assault that occurred in Southampton, as a man has been arrested in relation to the incident.
A 38-year-old man from London has been apprehended in Croydon under suspicion of attempted murder concerning the grievous assault of an 18-year-old man in the Hill Lane area during the early hours of Sunday, 10th November. The suspect has since been released from police custody on conditional bail to facilitate further investigations.
The police were alerted at approximately 1.10 am on Sunday, 10th November, following reports of a man found on Hill Lane with severe injuries, believed to have been inflicted by a bladed weapon, affecting his back and wrist.
Emergency services, including colleagues from the South Central Ambulance Service, attended the scene, and the 18-year-old victim was swiftly transported to hospital in a serious condition. He has now been discharged. A 17-year-old boy also suffered injuries during the incident and has received medical treatment; he is no longer hospitalised.
An investigation has been ongoing since the initial report, leading to the arrest of a 35-year-old woman from Southampton on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has been released from custody but remains under investigation. Additionally, a 17-year-old boy previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released with no further action to be taken.
Detectives continue to seek information from anyone who may have insight into this incident and has yet to speak with the police. They are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who were present at Sony’s Bar on Shirley Road between 7 pm and 11 pm on Saturday, 9th November. Any witnesses to altercations or suspicious behaviour are urged to come forward.
Additionally, the police are eager to trace the owner of a red car, captured in images, travelling along Hill Lane at 1 am on Sunday, 10th November. Although the images are not of the highest quality, authorities are conducting further enquiries to acquire clearer pictures. It is believed that the occupants of this vehicle could have witnessed something crucial, and their testimonies are highly sought after by the investigation team.
