Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Brigade were called out to Costa Coffee shop at above bar street Southampton just after 330pm on Tuesday after a customer became stuck in a toilet.
It’s understood a customer had been trapped in the toilet for over 2 hours. Firefighters could be seen entering the coffee shop with specialist equipment to help releive the situation.

One customer commented its quite unusual to see so many fireman going into the coffee shop, but she understood the person in the toilet had been stuck for some time and its reassuring the fire services had come out to free the person.
Toilets at Costa Coffee have been in the headlines recently after a member of the public was refused access to the toilet in Bournemouth. Costa Coffee’s policy is that only patrons are allowed to use the toilet after purchasing an item and receiving a code. A system that has upset many customers.
A spokeswoman for Costa commented: ‘Our toilets, including those with locks on the door, are primarily for our paying customers, however, we do appreciate that there are times and situations whereby team members should use their discretion and make an exception for non-paying customers. This is especially true with children and pregnant women.’
