Southampton Police are seeking information following the tragic death of a man involved in a collision last month on the Itchen Bridge. The incident, which occurred around 7:15 PM on Wednesday, September 25, involved a motorcycle and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, Lee Michael Anderson from Wadhurst Gardens, Southampton, sadly passed away in the hospital four days after the accident, despite receiving medical treatment. His family, mourning the loss of the 51-year-old, expressed their heartfelt tribute: “Lee was a loving brother and a unique individual, taken from us too soon. He always prioritized others and loved helping out, especially in his community. To us, he is a real superhero, being an organ donor who has saved many lives through his generous act.”
The Itchen Bridge, spanning the River Itchen, connects Woolston to the city center and was built in 1977. It has gained notoriety as a toll bridge generating significant revenue for the Southampton Council and is also known as a suicide hotspot.
Southampton Police urge anyone with information that could aid their inquiries to call 101, referencing 44240417434. Alternatively, information can be submitted online at Hampshire Police’s website.
