Elon Musk turns attention to UK Politics with Farage Tweets after helping Trump win US landslide
Billionaire Tesla entrepreneur Elon Musk has seemingly shifted his political interests across the Atlantic, expressing support for Nigel Farage and the UK’s Reform Party. This comes after Musk played a pivotal role in Donald Trump’s overwhelming victory over Kamala Harris in the recent US presidential election.
Musk’s engagement was sparked by a tweet from the user “inevitable west,” on X, which highlighted the rising viewership of Nigel Farage’s GB News, surpassing that of both Sky News and BBC News. The tweet, which claimed that GB News achieved 130% of Sky News’s audience and 108% of BBC News’s viewership, prompted Musk to react with a simple yet impactful “wow.” The tweet also suggested a growing distrust in mainstream media (MSM).
Further solidifying his stance, Musk responded to another tweet from GB News concerning an interview between Nigel Farage and Telegraph journalist Allison Pearson. His comment, “this is insane. Make Orwell Fiction Again!!”, alluded to a perceived overreach by authorities, echoing sentiments of a dystopian crackdown on free speech.
The interview revealed that Allison Pearson, an award-winning journalist, is under investigation by Essex Police for allegedly inciting racial hatred through a social media post last November. Despite the investigation, police have not disclosed which specific post is under scrutiny or who filed the complaint.
On Remembrance Sunday, two police officers visited Pearson’s home to inform her of the investigation, inviting her for a voluntary interview without divulging the inquiry’s focus. The investigation, now involving the Metropolitan Police, Sussex Police, and Essex Police, has seen Pearson’s case categorised as both a potential breach of the Malicious Communications Act and a non-crime hate incident.

The Telegraph reported that the initial complaint was made to the Metropolitan Police, who then transferred it to Sussex Police. Sussex Police flagged it as both a non-crime hate incident and a potential malicious communication before passing it to Essex Police, who have since launched an investigation under the Public Order Act 1986.
As Musk’s influence continues to grow on both sides of the Atlantic, his interest in UK politics could signify a new era of transatlantic political dynamics, helping to elevate the fortunes of the Reform Party who won five parliamentary seats in the last election.
